While I was watching a sunset one evening in Goleta, CA, on the opposite horizon I saw a gorgeous "moon rise" on the horizon behind me.  It's my understanding that the first full moon in October is often called the Harvest Moon and it's the biggest the moon will look at anytime during the year.  It was incredibly huge as it peaked up over the horizon.  The sky was tinted a vague pink and purple from the sunrise on the other horizon.
